It is not strictly a free or open source list, though much of it is. I prefer FOSS whenever possible and only reach for proprietary tools when the open alternatives fall short.

I have chosen to use public domain images on my pages and articles. Many times, they will seem irrelevant to the content. This is intentional. I just like old public domain images.
